About
I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember. I used to doodle in class, which didn’t help me at test time, but thanks to the History Channel I’ve caught up with most of the things I didn’t learn back them. Eventually my brother Stu and I formed a partnership, calling ourselves The Brothers Grinn, and started self-publishing Supermegatopia online.
Supermegatopia was the tale of Weasel Boy, a character inspired by the comic book stories I grew up loving, but with an anthropomorphic twist and lots of fanservice to cartoons and movies. It ran from about 1995 to 2003 or so, until life intervened in the form of kids, jobs, and general burnout.
My work has also appeared in Knights of the Dinner Table, where I had a long-running standalone strip in the back of every issue for several years in the mid-2000s.
Angry Viking Press has published several issues of a comic I created with my friend Charmin, entitled Crushed: the Doomed Kitty Adventures, a story in which the titular heroine dies in creative and painful ways and continually respawns back at the temple. Those of you who played MUDs back in the 90s will probably recognize the gimmick of that particular comic.
Supermegatopia and Crushed were also turned into roleplaying games by Crunchy Frog, for which I provided additional artwork.
These days, I appear annually at AnthroCon in Pittsburgh over July 4th weekend, often with my friend and writing partner Dutch Koppenhaver, where we sell art and take commission work. The best part, though, is getting to socialize with our fan base. Seriously, it’s quite the ego boost.
Since Supermegatopia ended, I’ve kicked around a few different ideas for webcomics, and I’m finally ready to get back into the world of sequential storytelling. I love being able to bring new stories and strangeness into the world, and I hope you’re here because you enjoy reading them.
