Well, given Matilda’s knowledge of the future, and the fact that she’s female, that would seem to nail down who the scavenger from page 2 is. Coming from a timeline in which food is scarce might also explain her seeming fixation on eating. It does make her “I could eat you up!” line from page 7 slightly more sinister though.
